Favorite all-season layer

Love, love, love this hoodie. As a chronically cold but currently peri-menopausal woman who also knows a good hot-flash, this is a perfect light weight layer for everything from hiking in all weather to watching the kids' soccer games as summer transitions to fall; and, it's perfect for around the house as the damp autumn chill sets in here in the PNW. If I could make one request, it would be to offer this hoodie (in women's sizes) in black, gray, and darker/jewel tones as I would buy a couple more for daily casual wear.

Up for the challenge

I purchased the women’s orange hoodie in February ‘22 and waited to review it to see how it would hold up to extensive use. I wore this hoodie for a backcountry backpacking job, which averaged 50 miles weekly over a four month period in the southwest high desert. I also wore it on the JMT this past summer. After about 800 trail miles, the hoodie held up to the challenge.

The material is the softest I’ve found so far. It kept me cool in 95 degree heat and warm when I started my mornings at 25 degrees. It also kept me warm while wet one day when the weather kept shifting from sun-rain-snow. The recommended fit guide is true to size. Some have commented on the thumb hole location being off. I find it was placed perfectly for hiking with poles, The hood size kept the sun off my face and kept the bugs away. It did not pull on the neckline either. I did have an issue the side seam material not being folded enough in one place for the sewing thread to fully take. A friend who is a seamstress was able to fix it. The shirt is now showing some thinning on the upper back from my pack rubbing, but that is expected. It also has some fading and runs in the material from branch snags, but is no fault of the workmanship.

It looks a bit worse for wear right now but still has many trail miles left in it. I have purchased another for the upcoming season.

Useful in Fla

While you might not think selling merchandise in Fla, it is just perfect for cooler weather in Fla. We seldom have to layer cloths but just the one layer is adequate for our chilly weather ...I've worn my short sleeve shirt many days and will enjoy the long sleeve one walking on the beach when it is chilly.

I have worn this for all of my alpine adventures over the summer. It’s comfy and extremely lightweight. Good sun protection!
